A note covers one point of practice, signed by the person who wrote it.
The memo of parties is the first page the Registry reads after the cause title, and corrections to it are not allowed. The Delhi High Court has asked that it give the full particulars of each party, including an email ID (Chapter III, Rule 1 of the Delhi High Court Rules, as cited in a Registry notice).
What to put for each party
- Full name as it appears in the record, with the description (company, firm, individual).
- Parentage and age for an individual; registered office for a company.
- Complete address, including PIN code.
- Email ID and, where useful, a mobile number.
- The party’s position: Petitioner, Respondent No. 1, Respondent No. 2, in the order of the cause title.
Mistakes that cost a re-filing
- The memo does not match the cause title. Make one the source of the other.
- An address that differs between the memo and the affidavit.
- Handwritten changes. The notice says corrections are not allowed in the cause title, the index or the memo of parties.
